3/30/20 Diva Dance Tangle - Waltz, Foxtrot and Rock ' Roll

This tangle is different from other tangles in that there are three variations of it which are named and based on the rhythms of the Waltz, Foxtrot and Rock ‘n Roll. 

These variations are different enough that I am making video instructions for each one. You do NOT have to watch the videos in any particular order. 

 We’ll start with Waltz. In dance, the waltz has a three step rhythm,  1 – 2 – 3, 1 – 2 – 3.  In the tangle this done by drawing two lines a few millimeters apart and then a bump. We repeat this rhythm until we have completed the section we started drawing in.

A completed section of Waltz. (Draw a line, then another line, then a 'bump.' Fill in the bump and repeat. Bumps can be anyplace on the line. Bumps can be any shape and size.)

Ellen drew Waltz behind the geckos. The materials she used for this drawing were a black fine-line Sharpie marker and colored gel pens.

Ellen used black Sakura Micron pens (01 and 03) to draw Waltz. She added the water droplets using a 4B pencil, a white Sakura gel pen and a blue glitter gel pen. Ellen learned to draw water droplets from the website http://dotsndoodles.com/how-to-draw-a-water-drop-step-by-step-fine-art-tips/

Ellen drew Waltz in the tree trunk. She used a Sakura Micron 01 pen.

 Another variation of Diva Dance is called  ‘Foxtrot.’ The foxtrot has a four step rhythm. In foxtrot, we start by dividing the section we will be drawing in into four parts because the foxtrot rhythm is 1 – 2 – 3 - 4, 1 – 2 – 3 - 4. In each part, we make the tangle by drawing three lines a few millimeters apart and then a bump. We repeat this rhythm until we have completed each of the four parts of the section

A competed section of Foxtrot. (Divide the section into four parts. Draw 3 lines and a bump. Bumps can be anyplace along the line. Bumps can be any size and shape.)

Ellen drew Foxtrot in the lower right-hand corner of the section.

Ellen divided the section into many smaller parts then drew Foxtrot in each part.

    Now we are going to draw the Diva Dance variation called ‘Rock ‘n Roll.’ In Rock ‘n Roll this done by drawing a comma, or a curly-cue, and a bump. We spin the paper as we draw and Rock 'n Roll gets larger and larger, until we feel that it is finished.

A completed Rock 'n Roll. (Start with a comma, or curly-cue in the middle add bumps to the line as you turn your paper to continue the drawing. The lines are a few millimeters apart.)

Ellen drew several Rock 'n Rolls in a circle and then added some leaves between them. She used a black Sakura micron 01 pen.

Terri used a black Sakura PN Micron pen to draw Diva Dance Waltz, Foxtrot, and Rock 'n' Roll on this 3.5 inch square Zentangle Tile. She used a pencil to shade around each tangle.
